Kitten Health Guarantee and Contract
Terms of Agreement:
The buyer is to pay a $500 (non-refundable) deposit and the remaining balance $ ____ is to be paid upon pick-up of the kitten at 10-12 weeks of age. Breeding rights are not available. The deposit may be paid by cash, bank to bank wire transfer or US Postal Money Order made out to: Joan Matheny.
The balance must be paid in cash only when the kitten is being picked up by buyer. If a kitten is not picked up by 12 weeks of age without prior arrangement, it will be considered abandoned and the deposit will be forfeited. DELIVERY AVAILABLE: Price dependent on distance of delivery by breeder or airfare.
Health Guarantee: One Year Health Guarantee against health issues resulting from genetics or breeding. The kitten will come with a vet certificate of good health and first vaccinations. If the kitten is found to be unfit for sale at the 8 week veterinary medical check-up, the buyer’s deposit will be immediately refunded and the contract cancelled. All subsequent medical care is the responsibility of the buyer. It is buyer’s responsibility to have the kitten examined by a licensed veterinarian within 48 hours of receipt of kitten for guarantee to be valid.
Failure to have Kitten checked by a licensed veterinarian within 48 hours will void guarantee. After 48 hours of the health guarantee period, the seller will not be held accountable for illnesses or injuries due to the fact that these can be contracted anywhere in the environment after leaving our care and are not a result of genetics or breeding.
If kitten dies within 12 months of purchase or first year of life of a genetic defect found during first examination kitten will be replaced upon death of kitten by a healthy kitten from a future litter. Breeder requires a letter by a vet stating the congenital defect and a second opinion letter by another vet stating the congenital defect. Breeder is not responsible for any vet bills incurred once Kitten is in buyer’s possession. The Kitten will not be denied needed veterinary attention. If owner is unsure whether or not the animal is in need of medical services, a veterinarian will be contacted, the situation explained and the veterinarian’s advice will be acted upon. Breeder will not be responsible for any illness or vet bills that occur due to exposure between the Cat/Kitten and the resident’s pets. It is advised to keep a new Cat/Kitten on a two week quarantine after arriving home. Buyer accepts all responsibility for protection of Cat/Kitten from said, diseases, illnesses, parasites, and fungi.
**Breeder is not held responsible for any warranty for Kitten against any adverse reactions to any future vaccinations.**
No kitten is to be vaccinated before 12 weeks of age (Due to the breed sensitivity to vaccines.), has been in its new home for at least two weeks and is adjusted, showing no signs of illness, or on any medications. ONLY the 12 week booster vaccine and future boosters at intervals of no less than one year are recommended. If a rabies vaccination is given it must be when the kitten is at least 16 weeks of age. There must be a 2 week interval between any two vaccines, and if a vaccination is given, NO OTHER medical treatment can be given at that time. If BUYER ALLOWS A VET TO GIVE ANY OTHER TYPE OF VACCINATION or does not adhere to the above suggested schedule, then any health guarantee on the kitten is null and void.
If said Kitten should die due to a congenital defect during the first year of life, the Kitten will be replaced only after supplying the seller a letter from the examining veterinarian explaining his/her findings during Autopsy. The seller has the right to request an autopsy to be performed at the buyers expense to determine cause of death. The kitten will be replaced with a/Kitten of comparable quality and value, upon availability after results of autopsy. Only if results state “congenital defect” will Kitten be replaced. This same replacement solution will be implemented in the eventuality that the “new kitten check-up”, during the buyer's first 48 hours of possession, reveals an untreatable, life threatening defect/illness. Providing the seller with written veterinary proof will be necessary for validity in either of the above incidences.
Buyer is aware that if on a waiting list they will be advised what position they hold on the list. Breeder does reserve the right to place holds on any kittens that may benefit the program. If in the event there are more people on the list than kittens available in a particular litter, the buyer has the option to pick from the next scheduled litter or choose a specific litter planned for a later time. Kittens are sold as pet quality and must be altered by 6 months of age. Allergies, degree of hairlessness and disposition are not guaranteed (kittens may have some hair). Except as noted above the sale is final.
Seller liability is limited to the original purchase price of the kitten and does not include shipping or medical care expenses, which are solely the responsibility of the buyer. Any potential legal action must be brought in Rock Island County, IL.
All Pet Quality kittens are sold without breeding rights and the kitten is to be altered (spay or neutered) by the buyer at approximately 6 months of age. Proof of alter is to be sent to seller. Proof may be mailed or emailed. When proof of alter is received limited TICA registration paper will be sent to BUYER.
